Joseph J. Kocik, 78, of Port Clinton, Ohio went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on August 25, 1928, in Gypsum, Ohio, the son of the late John G. and Elizabeth (Yakobison) Kocik. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He married Doris Wilka on June 1, 1963, and she survives. He worked as a machine repair machinist at both the U.S. Gypsum company for 33 years and then at New Departure, Sandusky, having retired in 1992. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton; Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718; Port Clinton Knights of Columbus #1750; and the Port Clinton Yacht Club. His hobbies included creating windows and objects out of stained glass; being a handyman, aka “Joe fix it”; traveling, day triping, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: Doris; daughters: Lynn (Mark) Keefe, South Riding, VA; and Beth (Brenden) Lo, Mount Pleasant, SC; grandsons: Duncan Alexander Keefe and Avery Joseph Keefe; brother: John G. (Barbara) Kocik, Granville, OH; and 4 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 4:00-9:00 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck, & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 AM Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, celebrated by Reverend Raymond Ensman and Reverend Kurt Borows, Jr. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM at Allen Twp. Cemetery, Williston, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society; Stein Hospice, or Donor’s choice.
