Joseph A. Smith

Joseph A. Smith, 87, of Port Clinton died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1928 in Oak Harbor the son of Joseph L. and Hilda B. (Lochotzki) Smith. He married Lavonne F. Payne on Nov. 17, 1950 and she survives. Mr. Smith was a retired letter carrier form the Port Clinton Post Office and he previously worked for the Matthews Boat Co. He was a musician in many area bands, accomplished in playing the piano, accordion, guitar and organ. He taught music lessons and was a piano tuner. Surviving are his wife: Lavonne (Payne) Smith; son: Roger Smith of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Jason Smith of Fremont, OH, Scott (Vikki) Smith of Johnstown, OH; great-grandchildren: Katie Smith, Andrew Dennis, Hailey Smith and Gracie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Richard Smith. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH where visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Father John Missler will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
