Joseph A. Fredericks

Joseph A. Fredericks, 92, of Sandusky, died Wednesday April 1, 2009 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born November 15, 1916 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Rydelek) Fredericks. On November 25, 1942 he married Bernice (Smialowski) and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2003. Joseph was retired in 1978 from Ares, Inc as a superintendent of research and development of firearms. He was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Parma, Ohio. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and playing poker. Surviving are his son David (Karen) Fredericks and a daughter Marilyn (Steven, Jr.) Gresh, both of Catawba Island; grandchildren Eric Gresh, Sarah Koelsch and Joseph Fredericks; great grandchildren Daniel Gresh, Dawson Koelsch, Brennan Koelsch and Hannah Koelsch. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four sisters and three brothers. Friends may call from 5 8 pm Friday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 East Harbor Road, Marblehead where funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday.
