John W. Lucas, 77, of Marblehead, Ohio died unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born on February 12, 1936 in Marblehead, the son of the late John and Anna (Walland) Lucas. On September 21, 1963 he married Sharren Stiefel and she survives. John worked as a loader operator at Lafarge in Marblehead for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead Ohio where he volunteered as the cemetery gatekeeper for many years. He enjoyed sports, especially the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed outdoor activities. Survivors include his wife: Sharren; daughter: Candee (Brian) Hurt, Marblehead; son: John (Lyndsey) Lucas, Perrysburg, Ohio; sisters: Anna Marie Mack, Solon, Ohio; Geraldine Nason, Marblehead; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Louise, Frances, Bernice, and Mary as well as brothers: Leon, Larry, and Robert "Bob". Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 4-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, from 9am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
