John W. Cox, Sr. 72, of Port Clinton died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. He was born Jan. 3, 1936 in Williamsburg, KY the son of the late Manuel and Laura (Capps) Cox. He married Caroline E. Witt on July 2, 1956 and she survives. Mr. Cox was previously the Danbury Township Police Chief, he worked for the Port Clinton Police and he was a truck driver for Michigan Transportation. After retirement he worked in the maintenance department at Danbury Township. He enjoyed gardening, working on old cars, yard work and being with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife: Caroline; sons: John (Sharon) Cox, Jr of Port Clinton, Jack Meyer of Lacarne; daughters: Becky (Joe) Wieber, Tina Cox, Terri Rose all of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Dawn Fleming, Melanie Adkins, Danelle Kreager, Kimberly Medina, Lacey Meyer, Shawn Kreager, Melisa Rose, Jolene Roboski, Jared Fox; nine great-grandchildren; brothers: Bob Cox of Missouri, Virgil Cox of Kentucky; sisters: Frances Hughes of Kentucky and Brenda Dixon of Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, LakesideMarblehead, OH where visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 pm. Interment will be in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. On line condolences maybe shared with the family at www.neideckerleveckcrosser.com .
