John Philip Albin, 74, of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH, and formerly of Columbus, OH died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH. He was born on November 21, 1937 in Columbus, OH, the son of the late John and Helen (Brown) Albin. He graduated from the Ohio State University in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and industrial design. He was the owner of the former Group One Associates, an industrial design group based out of Columbus, OH retiring in 1983. He then did boat brokerages for Catawba Marine, Ltd., Port Clinton, OH from 1985-1993. He was a member of First Community Church in Grandview, Ohio; member of the Industrial Design Society of America; member of the Scioto Country Club, Muirfield Country Club & Catawba Island Club; the Columbus Athletic Club, OSU Alumni, and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Survivors include his daughter: Ashley Albin, Tucson, AZ; sisters: Carol (John) Barry, Celina, OH and Diane (Danny Combs) Richards, Columbus, OH; former wife: Mary Beth Dawson, Tucson, AZ; nieces and nephews; and great friends: Mike (Suzanne) Kiggin, Columbus, OH and Charles (Marcia) Heck, Port Clinton, OH Per John's request, there will be no visitation or services as cremation has taken place. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
