John Mizla

John J. Mizla, Sr, 85, of Danbury Township, OH died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky after a brief illness. He was born June 22, 1925 in Fremont, OH the son of the late Peter and Mary (Sceranko) Mizla. He married Margaret Hrubco on Sept. 16, 1950 and she survives. Mr. Mizla worked in maintenance for United States Gypsum Co. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. In October of 2010 John and his son Mark flew to Washington DC on a Northwest Ohio Honor Flight. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead where he previously was an usher and taught CCD. He was a member of American Legion and he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Surviving are his son: John J. (Debbie) Mizla, Jr. of Lakeside, Mark (Lori) Mizla of Marblehead; daughter: Barbara (John) Polidan of St. Johns, FL; grandchildren: Sarah Mizla, Joanna Mizla, Bobby Polidan, Mary Polidan, Dustin Chura and Mike Chura and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Peter, Frank, George, Lawrence "Sam", Daniel; sisters: Clara Powers, Dorothy Colvin, Emma Lukac and Mary Mizla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Daniel Ring at 10:00am Monday, May 23, 2011 at ST. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, Oh. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside—Marblehead, OH. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 9:30am until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH.
