John Korka, 90, of Sandusky, Ohio died Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on January 21, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio, the son of the late Andrew and Amalia (Deak) Korka. He graduated from Elyria High School in 1937. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served his country during WWII. While in the service, he met and married Ena Parker on January 20, 1945 in Kettering, England, and she preceded him in death in August 2004. Following the service, he became an Overseas Project Engineer, working for General Motors in Romulus, Michigan until his retirement in 1980, when he and his wife moved to New Port Richey, Florida. His hobbies included golfing and boating. Survivors include his daughters: Jacquee (Tony) Rutherford, Marblehead, Ohio and Patricia (Chuck) Savitskie, Sault St. Marie, Michigan; granddaughter: Amanda (Dan) Goff, of Sandusky, Ohio and great granddaughter: Adeline Goff. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son: John Allen Korka; sisters: Elizabeth Blabey, Emma Draper; and brothers: Andrew and James Korka. There will be no visitation or services as cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
