John J. Mizla, Jr., 70, of Lakeside, OH passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Cleveland Metro Hospital. He was born July 22, 1951 in Port Clinton, the son of John J. and Margaret (Hrubco) Mizla, Sr. John graduated from Danbury High School in 1969. He was the vice-president of his class and swam on the first swim team at Danbury. He also graduated from the first class at Terra Tech. He married Debra Baptista on June 25, 1977. John retired from General Motors after working at the New Departure and Delphi plant for 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH, VFW Aux. and UAW # 913. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He enjoyed living on the Marblehead Peninsula, being close to Lake Erie, watching football especially Buckeyes and Browns and loved watching westerns. Surviving are his wife: Debbie; daughters: Sarah (Eric) Salsbury of Catawba Island, Joanna Mizla of Lakeside; grandchildren: Nolan Salsbury, Nathan Salsbury, Meredith Mizla; mother: Margaret Mizla of Marblehead; brother: Mark (Lori) Mizla of Marblehead; sister: Barbara (John) Polidan of St. Johns, FL. He was preceded in death by his father: John J. Mizla, Sr. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father James Brown 10:00 am on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Braclay St. Marblehead, OH. Additional visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Danbury Township Fire Dept, 9551 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440.
