John Henry (Hank) Ropers

September 30, 1914 — July 30, 2008

John Henry (Hank) Ropers, loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday, July 30 at Magruder Hospital. He was 93. Born September 30, 1914 in Danbury, Hanka 1932 graduate of Danbury High Schoolwas a life-long farmer who ran Ropers Orchards with his brother Allen, who preceded him in death in 1985. Hank also worked part time as a surveyor during winter months. Hank enjoyed taking road trips, was an avid woodworker and took pleasure in winemaking, pinochle and crossword puzzles. His unfailing good cheer and humor, no matter the circumstance, made him a pleasure to be around. Hank was a member of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce, and son Ron, both of Danbury; daughter Janet McDonough and her husband Jim, and grandsons Max and Brett, of Randolph, New Jersey. At Hank's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel at 7755 E. Harbor Rd. in Marblehead, with Pastor Chris Young of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
