John H. Walker

John H. Walker, 90, of Port Clinton, died Tuesday April 8, 2008 at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor. He was born January 3, 1918 in Port Clinton, the son of Frank and Pearl (McMunn) Walker. John was a commercial fisherman for 25 years and worked for the City of Port Clinton Street Department until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He loved playing cards, dining out and enjoying his "special group" and looked forward to "going for coffee with the retirees" every morning. Surviving are his sons Art (Bobbi) Walker and Jim (Karen) Walker both of Port Clinton; grandchildren Bill Walker of Las Cruces, NM, Sandi Bogard of Oak Harbor and Jim (Tonia) Walker, Mike Walker and Jason Walker all of Port Clinton; great grandchildren Nicole and Aaron Bogard, Shane, Kyle, Abby, Austin and Darren Walker and Brandon Vanhoose and a sister Clairbell Schirg of Bellevue. On March 9, 1940 he married Erma M. (Offenburg) and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2005. John was also preceded in death by and his parents, sister Vivian Young and a brother George Walker. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton where funeral services will be at 10 am Friday. The Rev. Karl Kessler will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, Heartland Hospice or Stein Hospice.
