John G. Herman, 49, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on April 6, 1960 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of James L. and Joycelynn C. (Gerbich) Herman. John was an accomplished tree trimmer, formerly employed by Davey Tree Service and Asplundh Tree Service in Naples, Florida and also N G Gilbert in Georgia. He attended Resurrection Lutheran Church on Catawba Island. His hobbies included fishing, camping, gardening, and writing poetry. Survivors include his mother: Joycelynn C. Herman, of Port Clinton; father and step mother: James L. (Phyllis) Herman, of Marblehead and North Fort Myers, FL; children: Victoria Heather (Gordon) Sexton, of Loganville, GA; Peter Maxwell Herman, Allison Joy Herman and William James Herman, all of Monroe, GA; sister: Carrie Herman, of Akron, OH; brother: Nathaniel James (Sheila) Herman, of Naples, FL and niece: Elizabeth (Tom) Moore, of Byron Center, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 from 2-4 and 5-8 PM at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, OH where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM with additional visitation from 10:30-11:00 AM. Reverend Kurt Borows will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
