John Earl McClellan, 85, of Catawba Island, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on February 22, 1932 in Dante, Virginia, a son of the late Nath and Bonnie (Potter) McClellan. On November 24, 1952 he married Faye Blair and she survives. John worked as a supervisor at US Gypsum for over 26 years and then in quality control at the former Rexam plant in Fremont for over 16 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Oak Harbor. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, fisherman, gardener, and bowler. He also played semi pro baseball while working for US Gypsum. Most importantly, he loved his family. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye; daughter, Patricia Lynn (Richard) DeMars, Lacarne, Ohio; grandson, Richard Earl DeMars; sister, Bernice Fields, Dante, Virginia; brother, Paul McClellan, Berlin Heights, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Earl McClellan, Jr.; sisters, Goldie Ward, Florence Fields, Victoria Blevins; brothers, Floyd, Frank, and Victor McClellan. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 11 am until Funeral Services at 1 pm with Jeremiah Jabber officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
