John D. Wilhelm

Moe John Wilhelm, 51, of Put-in-Bay, Ohio died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his residence on Put-in-Bay. He was born on June 9, 1958 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the son of Harold and Mary Anne (Hite) Wilhelm, Sr. He worked for Dunfee and Hurst Plumbing in Sandusky, Ohio until retiring in 2008 due to illness. For the past 32 years he was a volunteer firefighter on the Put-in-Bay Fire Department, and was the Fire Chief for the past 5 years. He was an avid fisherman and carpenter, and enjoyed building ice shanties. He had a huge heart and loved to help people. Survivors include his mother: Mary Anne, of Put-in-Bay; children: Jessica and Justin Wilhelm: brothers and sisters: Kathleen Anne (Thomas) Kissell, of Fremont, OH; Karen (Dale) Burris, of North Bass, OH; Charlie (Susan) Wilhelm, of Wakeman, OH; Mark (Karen) Wilhelm, of Put-in-Bay, OH and Susan (Thomas) Seaberg, of Put-in-Bay, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Ronald Brickner on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay.
