John Borman

March 18, 1936 — June 26, 2011

John W. Borman, 75, known by his friend as Bullet, of Put-in-Bay died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at his residence. He was born March 18, 1936 in Put-in-Bay the son of the late George and Grace (Smith) Borman. He married Phoebe Rosselot on March 21, 1970 and she survives. Mr. Borman worked as an export and traffic manager for McCord Corporation of Wauseon, OH. He also owned and operated Borman Cottages at Put-in-Bay. He was a founding member of the Skip Duggan Antique Car Club, member and past commodore of the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club, member and past commodore of the Associated Yacht Club, member of the ILYA, trustee of the Yachtsman Fund of the ILYA, he was a certified race officer and ran the Regatta at Put-in-Bay for many years. He was a catboat sailor and raced for many years. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Put-in-Bay American Legion and the Port Clinton Veteran of Foreign Wars. He loved living at Put-in-Bay and always enjoyed helping anyone he could. Put-in-Bay was always home to him. Surviving are his wife: Phoebe; sons: Brian W. (Denise) Parker of Newport, OR, Scott C. (Kaitlyn) Parker of Ormond Beach, FL; daughter: Deborah Parker of Toledo; grandchildren: Logan Parker, Dylan Parker, Scarlet Parker and Christopher Parker; sister: Judy (Fred) Prinz of Put-in-Bay. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Leslie M. Coles. Graveside services will be conducted by the Put-in-Bay American Legion Post at 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Mapleleaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay followed by a lunch at the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Put-in-Bay E.M.S., Humane Society of Ottawa County or an Island Charity of your choice.
