Johanne C. Wight, 87, of Port Clinton, Ohio, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. She was born on June 15, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Lester Minier and Delinta Couture. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1939, and attended St. Francis DeSalles College in Toledo, Ohio for one year. She returned to her family home in Port Clinton and went to work at Port Clinton Manufacturing for her step-father, George J. Zetzer, after which she worked at Camp Perry EOD. On June 30, 1943, she married Raymond R. Wight, of Port Clinton, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2002. Ray and Johanne owned and operated "Vallee's", a women's clothing and hat store on Second street in Port Clinton until early 1961. Then Johanne owned and operated an antique shop on Madison street in Port Clinton. She became a licensed realtor in the spring of 1967, later owning her own brokerage known as Wight Realty, where she was a member and past president of the Ottawa County Board of Realtors. When she retired from real estate in June 2007, she was working for Chapman Realty. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, where she was a member and past president of the Altar-Rosary Society. Her hobbies included bowling, golf, and travel. Survivors include her daughters: Valerie Wight, Delynne Wight, Marcina Hartenfeld, and Angela Bartels, all of Port Clinton; sons: James Wight, of New Orleans, LA; Reverend Fr. Jonathan Wight, of Bellevue, OH; and Steven (April) Wight, of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Nathan Wight, Janelle (Mike) Frank, Joanna Wight, Mary Patricia (Justin) Wheeler, Joshua (Gabrielle) Thusat, Caleb (Angela) Thusat, Gregory Bartels, Harrison and Holden Wight; great-grandchildren: Luka Thusat and Haley Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Raymond and Martin Wight; brother: Mark Zetzer, Sr., and sisters: Phyllis Zetzer and Georgiana Below. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 4-6 and 7-9 PM with Rosary Services being held at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Fr. Jonathan Wight and Rev. Fr. John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception School or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
