Joe Rose

C. Joseph Rose, 83 of Port Clinton, OH died Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born December 8, 1939 in Saldee, KY to the late William D. and Sarah (Noble) Rose. On February 18, 1961 he married the former Sonya Elchisco, and she survives. Joe retired after 21 years of service in the United States Coast Guard. From 1978 – 1999 he worked as a Plant Engineer at numerous meat packing plants throughout the Midwest. He was a member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Marblehead where he was active in helping with the baking fundraisers and lawn care of both the church and the cemetery. He was a lifetime member of the Marblehead V.F.W.

Joe was a man of many talents throughout his life. He took great pride in everything he touched, especially his family and his church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Sonya of Port Clinton, OH; children: Joe (Lisa) Rose of Toledo, OH and Margaret A. (Dennis) Podschweit of Poplar Grove, IL; grandchildren Richard and Christopher Podschweit; and sister-in-law Barbara Rose. He was also preceded in death by his brother Charles M. Rose and sister Mary Lou Hobson.

Services will begin at 2:15pm on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, where the family will receive friends beginning at 1pm. Burial will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Marblehead where he will receive military honors. Memorial Contributions may be given to Holy Assumption Orthodox Church.
