Joann M. (Bonnigson) Frisch, 76, of Catawba Island, OH passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 surrounded by her family at Promedica Toledo Hospital. She was born March 13, 1949 in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Henry L. “Hank” and Doris (Camp) Bonnigson. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1967 and married the love of her life H. Joseph Frisch, Jr. on October 25, 1969.
Joann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Throughout their marriage, Joann was the glue that held her family together as she and Joe had 4 children and moved their family 6 times across Ohio, Michigan & Canada. She earned an Interior Design certificate from LaSalle University, and was also a great landscape artist. Joann kept an impeccably clean and decorated home and took pride in her beautiful flower gardens.
She had a busy social calendar and always arrived at gatherings with a smile and a gift for the hostess. She never missed an opportunity to send a personal card for a birthday or an anniversary. She loved traveling and learning about the towns she visited. She cherished her photos and keepsakes by putting them into scrapbooks to share with others. She was very devoted to her Catholic Faith and was a religious education teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, OH and was active in Birthright in St. Joseph, MI.
The past 7 years of her life, Joann worked relentlessly to overcome the obstacles caused by a stroke. While her speech never fully returned, she never lost the ability to say her prayers.
She is survived by her husband: Joe; children: Brad Frisch (Valerie Van Fleet) of Fremont, Shannon (Jason) Kadlec of Traverse City, MI: Jake (Gretchen) Frisch of Huron, Trent (Tiffany) Frisch of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Noah, Logan, Tyler & Halle Kadlec, Alexis & Maisie Frisch and Austin Frisch, siblings: Karl (Pat) Bonnigson of Fremont, Keith (Jamie) Bonnigson of Bay View, Jeanne (Ken) Mathias of Burgoon, Ken (Jen) Bonnigson of Clyde, Grace (Chris) Leichty of Green Springs, Mary (Tim) Myers of Fremont and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Dawson Frisch.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Parish Rosary Prayer services will be Thursday at 7:30 pm in the Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2025 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay St. Marblehead, OH followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in the parish. Father Joseph Szybka, Father James Brown and Father James Pieffer will be celebrating the mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Respect Life Ministry of Ottawa County, P. O. Box 45, Port Clinton, OH 43452.
