Jo Ann (Jackson) Merrill, 77, of Catawba Island, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at The Cleveland Clinic. She was born July 14, 1928 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Marvin W. and Florence V. (Anderson) Jackson. In 1949, she graduated from Columbia Presbyterian (Columbia University) School of Nursing. On May 5, 1950 she married Richard Merrill, Sr. Mrs. Merrill was a registered nurse for Port Clinton City Schools working at Portage and Catawba Elementary Schools. She also worked at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist, Port Clinton where she was active in the Hulda Circle. Additional clubs and memberships include, the Red Hat Society, Breakfast group, Garden Club, CIC Ladies Golf League, Port Clinton Women’s Golf League and Thursday Book Review Study Club. Jo Ann’s pride and joy were her family, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Surviving are her husband: Richard; sons: Richard E. (Kathy) Merrill, Jr. of Flushing, MI, John J. (Tricia) Merrill, Sr. of Columbus, OH; daughters: Ann E. (Tim) Merrill Bash of Clayton, NC, Susan L. Merrill of Canton, MI; grandchildren: Tina Bash, Madeline Merrill, John Merrill, Jr., Dawn Bash; great grandson Timothy R. Bash. Memorial services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Lakewood, NY at a later date. Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Port Clinton Chapter or Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton.
