In Loving Memory of Joan Marie Patthoff (née Beckmann)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Marie Patthoff (née Beckmann), aged 75, of Marblehead, Ohio. Joan passed away on December 20, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following an illness she experienced while traveling with her beloved husband.

Joan was born and raised in Delphos, Ohio, to her cherished parents, Leonard and Betty (Mary Elizabeth) Beckmann. From a young age, Joan exhibited an innate love for family and community, values that she carried with her throughout her life. She was a graduate of the class of 1971 from Sienna Heights University, where she formed lifelong friendships and honed her talents.

Joan married the love of her life, Dennis Patthoff, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Eric (Mayme), Nick (Jennifer), and Sarah Poe (David). Joan's children were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them and their respective families. She was a doting grandmother to Ella and Mason Patthoff, Ruby and Nelson Patthoff and Caleb Poe, always eager to spend time with her grandchildren, who adored her deeply.

Joan was the proud owner of Beckmann’s Furniture, a store in her family for over 110 years, where she employed her creative skills as an interior decorator. Her keen eye for design and her dedication to her craft made her a respected figure in the community. Joan’s work brought beauty and comfort to countless homes, and her legacy in the field of interior design is one that will be remembered warmly by all who knew her.

Beyond her professional achievements, Joan had an array of passions that brought joy and enrichment to her life. She was an avid cross-stitcher and basket weaver, skills that she perfected over the years and shared with loved ones. Joan's creative talents were not confined to just her work and hobbies; she was also renowned for her culinary pursuits. Her love of cooking and baking was legendary, and she often delighted friends and family with her delicious creations, which she generously shared especially her beautifully decorated and assorted Christmas cookie trays.

Joan’s commitment to her community was unwavering. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering, always willing to give back and support those around her. Most recently she was actively involved with Port Clinton’s Artists’ Club and chaired the annual Arts in the Park event held each August. Her selflessness and generosity touched many lives, and her contributions to various community initiatives will be greatly missed.

Joan was deeply devoted to her faith throughout her life, being a cherished parishioner of St. John in Delphos, St. Charles in Lima, and St. Joseph in Marblehead. Known for her unwavering commitment, she regularly participated in church activities and services. Joan prayed the rosary often, finding solace and strength, and extended her prayers beyond her own needs.

Joan Marie Patthoff leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband Dennis, her children Eric, Nick, and Sarah, their spouses, her beloved grandchildren, four brothers, several sisters in laws, brother in laws, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many friends and extended family members who will remember her as a warm and caring person who always opened her beautiful home with a warm heart.

Joan’s life was a testament to the power of faith, love and dedication, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of knowing her. As we reflect on her remarkable life, we are reminded of the many ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
