Joan Hickman

"Joan" Lois Joan Hickman, 83, of Catawba Island, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born March 11, 1932 in Port Clinton, the daughter of DeWolf and Claribel (Buck) Perry. She married Leonard E. "Bo" Hickman in 1953 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1971. Mrs. Hickman worked at the Ottawa County Courthouse in the Title Department and at the Ottawa County Visitors Bureau. She was the Corresponding Secretary for the Ottawa County Historical Society and a member of the Port Clinton Lighthouse Conservancy. She was an avid history buff and enjoyed painting, movies, gardening and traveling, especially with Timely Tours. Surviving are her sons: Jeff (Deborah) Hickman of Catawba Island, Jon (Lori) Hickman of Oak Harbor; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special cousins: Tony and Karen Russo of Catawba Island, Janet Nigrelli of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Janet Hickman. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00am Friday, October 2, 2015 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Port Clinton where visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Catawba Island Township Vol. Fire Department.
