Joan Fern Rose

JOAN FERN ROSE Joan Fern Rose, age 74, of Port Clinton, OH, gently passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. Joan was born March 11, 1940 in Lindsey, OH to Dorothy and Birchard Lemke, both now deceased. After graduating from Oak Harbor High School, Joan married Jim Garner (divorced) and had four children whom she raised while also working in the United Church of Christ. After her youngest was in school, Joan went to nursing school to earn her LPN, then her RN. She worked at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria, eventually becoming Director of Nursing. She married Mervin Rose on October 20, 1990. They moved from Findlay to Port Clinton, where they welcomed family and had many happy times. She worked as floor supervisor at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont for about five years before retiring. Joan will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Mervin; her four children, Steven Garner (wife Ann), Laurie Hemminger (husband Jim), Jeffrey Garner (wife Rose), and James Garner (wife Jan); 17 grandchildren (one deceased); seven great-grandchildren (two deceased); her brothers Jack and Don Lemke, her sister Betty Clark; her extended family; and her large circle of friends. Joan was always full of joy and we will carry her close forever in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be help at Trinity United Methodist Church on September 13, 2014, 11:00 am, luncheon to follow.
