Jimmie A. Ford

Jimmie "Jim" Anson Ford, 73 of Elmore, OH died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 1, 1935 in Luckey, OH to the late Floyd and Lucille (Lentz) Ford. He was a 1953 graduate of Troy-Luckey High School. On June 25, 1954 in Gibsonburg, OH he married the former Joanne Zorn and she survives. Jim was a Millwright for Libby Owens Ford in Rossford retiring in 1992. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elmore, past Harris Township Trustee, was a past volunteer for the Harris Elmore Fire and EMS Department, and former driver at the Fremont Speedway. With the help of his family, Jim helped to restart the happenings at the Fremont Speedway in 2000. He also remodeled at least 5 different buildings in the downtown area that were severely in need of refurbishing. He enjoyed racing and watching the races. Survivors include his wife Joanne of Elmore, OH; sons: Randall (Debra) Ford of Woodville, OH, Douglass Ford of Elmore, OH; daughters: Becky (Robert) Kayden of Elmore, OH, Vicky Ford of Charlotte, NC; brother Ray (Pat) Ford of Luckey, OH; grandchildren: Kelli (John) Yaniero, Kristin (Jeremiah) Cordy, Ashley (Adam) Hendrickson, Michael Ford and step- grandchild Philip Kayden; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Ford and step-grandson Michael Kayden. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8pm with the family present from 2-4 &6-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. David L. Nevergall officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are being directed to the Grace Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Harris- Elmore EMS or Racers Racing for the Cure.
