Jesus C. Castillo

Jesus C. "Jesse" Castillo, 88, of Port Clinton, died Monday March 30, 2009 in McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, TX. He was born November 8, 1920 in Monterrey, Mexico, the son of Juan and Micaela (Campos) Castillo. Jesse served in the US Army during WWII and retired from US Gypsum Company after many years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and attending craft shows, loved listening to Spanish music and being with his family. Jesse was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Jesse would spend the winter months at his native home town Pharr, TX with his brother and sister. He was preceded in death by his wife Loraine, sons Raul, Oscar and Jesus, Jr., brothers Ruben and Federico and a sister Angelica Soto. Survivors include Mary (Jack) Steele of Perrysburg, daughter-in-law Janie Castillo of Texas, Dolly (Jose) Gallardo, Saul (Rosie) Castillo, Armando (Nancy) Castillo all of Port Clinton, Rachel Barboza of Maumee, Shirley Castillo of Clyde, Eva Castillo and Debbie (Sam) Conte of Port Clinton; step daughters Pat Englebeck of Marblehead, Gloria Garza, Chris Kellogg and Susan Wessel all of Port Clinton; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; brothers Victor and Juan and a sister Ursula Avendano. Friends may call from 2 -7 pm Friday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
