Jesse Rister

Jesse Rister, 87, of Oak Harbor, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born on January 14, 1931 in Bradford, Kentucky, a son of the late Finley and Annabelle (Wilburn) Rister. He married Hazel "Ruth" Bush on March 27, 1954 and she survives. Jesse worked at the Celetex Corporation in Port Clinton for over 43 years, retiring in 1997. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Faith Family Worship Center in Port Clinton, where he was instrumental in helping to build the church. He was a Deacon at the church and preached numerous Sunday sermons. He also taught Sunday school. He loved the outdoors and could often be seen tending to his vegetable garden where he shared his freshly picked produce with family and friends. He also enjoyed flower gardening, fishing on Lake Erie, and raising honey bees. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; son, Leslie (Brenda) Rister, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Larry Rister, Jr., Walter (Dessa Sutherland) Rister and Randy (Beth) Rister; great-granddaughters, Alexis Rister, Alayna Rister, and Mackenzie Wagner; and sister, Lois Fraley. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Ray Rister; sisters, Lucy Wilburn, Ruth Gipson, and Molly Rister; and brothers, Vernon Rister, Everette Rister, Limon Rister, and Ernest Rister. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9 am until Funeral Services at 11 am with Pastor Jimmy Comstock officiating. Burial will follow in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Family Worship Center, 1061 S. Limestahl Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
