Jerry A. McNutt, 81, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born in Ottawa County on February 7, 1932, a son of Roy & Sadie (Barnes) McNutt. Jerry was a graduate of the former Salem-Oak Harbor High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8732, Oak Harbor. Jerry was a former employee of Formetal, Inc., Oak Harbor, and retired from Toledo Edison and the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Oak Harbor. He also was a barber with his own shop in Curtice, Ohio for many years. Jerry was a former member of the Rocky Ridge Village Council, and enjoyed woodworking at his shop at home. On May 28, 1959, he married the former Shirley A. Orwig, and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2009. Jerry is survived by his children, Lynn (Nancy) McNutt, Oak Harbor, Scott (Lynne) McNutt, Oak Harbor, and Sue (Dan) Ochs, Fremont, Ohio; grandchildren, Brittany (Steve) Fleckner, Gregory (Joy) McNutt, Bethany McNutt, Tyler McNutt, Sarah McNutt, Alex Ochs, and Brandon Ochs; great-granddaughter, Leah Fleckner, and good friends, Darlene Goldstein and Ray Blakely. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and an infant brother. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday. Rev. David A. Voll will officiate, and interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund of St. Paul United Church of Christ or Mid-County Emergency Medical Service.
