Jeannine E. Wendt

Jeannine E. Wendt, 79, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Sunday evening at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. She was born near Graytown, Ohio on February 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Melvin J. & Hazel L. (Sager) Martin. Jeannine was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, where she had taught Sunday School for 46 years. She also was a longtime member of the Senior Choir and the Altar Guild. For many years, Jeannine was in charge of the kitchen and also tended the flowers and the yards at the church. She was also a member of the Riverview Nursing Home Board of Trustees for several years. On July 1, 1949, she married Kenneth Wendt, and he survives. Also surviving is her daughter, Wendy (Richard) Spangler, Oak Harbor; sisters, Geraldine (Willard) Yingling, Lakeland, FL, Patricia (Kenneth) Swint, Fremont, OH, and Marilyn (Paul) Graber, Oak Harbor; sister-in-law, Gloria Martin, Toledo, OH; and grandsons, Christopher Spangler, and Scott Spangler, both of Oak Harbor. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Gordon Martin. Friends are invited to call from 2-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunday School of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Stein Hospice, or the Ottawa County Humane Society.
