Jean L. Roepke

Jean L. Roepke, 83 of Elmore, OH, and known as "Grandma" to all, died Friday, July 29, 2022 at her home under Hospice Care. She was born July 14, 1939 in Oregon, OH to the late Harold and Marvel (Burmeister) VanNess. She was a 1957 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. Jean spent 30 years as a laborer for Atlas Industries in Fremont OH and finished the rest of her working life Machine Tech and helping her son at Vision Quest in Elmore. Jean enjoyed crocheting and knitting doll clothes and other items for her family and those in need. She enjoyed genealogy, caring for her flowers, gardening, and reading. Survivors include her children: David (Jody) Roepke of Oak Harbor, OH, Dan (Karis) Roepke of Woodville, OH, Alvin (Karen) Roepke of Elmore and Annette Roepke of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Charlie Butler, Cynthia Roepke, Daniel (Katie) Roepke, Michael Smith, Cassandra Smith, Courtney Roepke, Jeffery Almroth, Kali (Brandon) Krontz, Jack Stein, Alexander Long, and Lynden (Thomas) Davies; great – grandchildren: Logan, Owen, Ayven, Anastasia, Haiden, Grayson, Lilyana, Josephine, Caroline, and Georgia. She was preceded in death by the father of her children David Roepke, longtime companion William “Butch” Schmidt, sister Jessie Allen, and brothers Harold “Jim” VanNess and Norm VanNess. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Elmore Historical Building with luncheon and time of gathering until 5pm. Burial will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
