Jean Francis Glovinsky chose a full moon on Monday, June 20, 2016 to be the time to join so many loved ones in heaven after complications of liver and kidney disease. Her life began in Marblehead, being the child of George and Catherine Monak. Her brother Jack, was her twin. After graduating from Danbury high school in 1955, she met, was courted and married William Basil Glovinsky. Their love overcame adversity on numerous occasions during their nearly 56 year marriage. Prior to marriage she converted to Orthodoxy where she was a faithful and devoted member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Marblehead. She spent many a season baking and making halupki for their annual sales and festivals. Their love produced two children, Mary Grieger (Dan) and Tim both of Port Clinton. Loving people as Jean did, she chose to be a waitress. Many will remember Jean in her more than 40 years at Mon Ami in Catawba and Nate's Restaurant. When Jean was not working and even well into retirement, she devoted herself to her grandchildren Nathan Brown (Kelley) of Virginia Beach, VA, Ryan of Cleveland and Kiya of Port Clinton. She was most proud of them. Most recently she and Bill became great-grandparents of Olivia and Jack. Jean so loved to cook, bake, can and clean, clean, clean. On many occasions, she would have more mouths to feed at her table than just Bill. She would give generously to family, neighbors and friends all of her most delicious baked goods. And Jean's holiday meals were so good, that they were fit to be on the cover of Good Housekeeping. Oh how Jean loved to walk. After 40 years waitressing, you would think she might want to sit down, but not her. If she wasn't walking to a friend's house, she would stop at her daughter's just to see if anyone was home. Every September, she would visit her friends and neighbors collecting donations for the family walk for diabetes team which helps to find a cure for diabetes. She gave so cheerfully with hope for her grandson as he lives with type 1 diabetes. She received many accolades for her financial contribution and dedication to JDRF. She and Bill traveled to Florida for many winters and while there became friends with so many and walked that many more miles. They were active in an Orthodox Church in Florida where she volunteered her talents and assisted them on numerous occasions. Upon their return to Ohio, the car was always overloaded with "treasures' and clothes from Florida for neighbors and family. She and Bill would be well tanned and several pounds lighter. Those times away, just Jean and Bill, were some of the very best times. Jean always had a smile for you to go with those baked goodies. Jean was an example of what it was to be devoted to your husband, children, grandchildren and God. She knew her heart belonged to God. She will always be loved and we miss her already. The family wishes to recognize Jane Baker House staff at Otterbein and Stein Hospice for their superb care of Jean in her final weeks on this earth.
