(1938-2024) Janna Lou Johnson (née Stoutenburg) died peacefully amongst family at her home
in Marblehead, Ohio, on February 14th at the age of 85.
Janna is survived by her sons David (Christa) and Christopher (Bonnie); grandchildren Sophia,
Olivia (Zac), Amelia, Ryan, Gavin and Nathan, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Janna was predeceased by her husband Cullen, who passed in 2018, and her brother Donn
Stoutenburg, who passed in 2021.
Janna was born on July 20, 1938 in Norwalk, Ohio to Alice and Aubrey Stoutenburg. She
graduated from Ohio University in 1959 with a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and was a lifetime active
member of Phi Mu Sorority. Janna married Cullen Stiles Johnson, whom she met at OU, in
1960. Janna and Cullen loved to travel, having lived in England, and instilled that love in their
children and grandchildren.
Janna worked in the North Olmsted school system from 1982 to 2000, and during that time was
the Butternut School librarian for 15 years up until her retirement. In this position, she made
numerous lifelong friends and shared her love for reading with the children who adored her.
She was also a talented artist and produced many paintings and drawings in her younger years.
Janna was passionate about her home in Marblehead, Ohio and often tended to her beautiful
garden. Built in 1883, her home served as a meeting place for family reunions, Girl Scout Troop
sleepovers, and an annual Fourth of July celebration amongst other get-togethers with friends
and family.
She was an active former committee member in the Island View Property Owners association
and stayed involved in communicating & participating in it throughout the years.
Janna’s friends and family will remember her as a truly kind, creative, and caring soul who
valued her community and relationships above all else. Janna’s impact on friends and family
cannot be understated. Like her husband, Janna had a deep love for her six grandchildren, and
always enjoyed spending time with them during summers at the lake and holidays at her house
in Round Rock, Texas. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends
