Jane M. Davenport

Jane M. Davenport, 95, of Catawba Island passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born December 9, 1927 in Oak Harbor, the youngest daughter of Oliver and Alta (McCaron) Deal. She married Richard Davenport on February 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1981. She worked for United States Defense Department. Jane was a Gold Star Mother having lost her son, Jim, in Vietnam. She loved having get togethers with the grandchildren, golfing and fishing, especially her weekly fishing trip with her best friend and neighbor Laura Mercer. She was a member of the Port Clinton VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children: John Mark (Diana) Davenport of Catawba Island, Jerry Martin (Cathy) Davenport of Catawba Island, Jordan Maxwell (Esperanza) Davenport of Catawba Island, Janet Marie (David Mocarski) Davenport of Tujunga, CA; grandchildren: John Maxwell Davenport, Jacqueline Marie Herman, Alex DiMassa, Jared Richard Davenport, Adam Edward Spriggs, James Henry Davenport, Marie Jane Davenport, Emily Jo Davenport, Danielle Nicole Krupp, Jerianne Elizabeth Davenport; great-grandchildren: Saria, Makenzie, Fulton, Paige, Elayna, Elliana, Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Richard; son: Spec. 4 James Michael Davenport; granddaughter: Shannon Lea Davenport; siblings: Oliver Deal, Beryl Deal, Stanley Deal, Paul Deal, Florence Schmidt, Patsy Nelson, Altha Schiller, Harriet Snow, Georgiana Green, Angela Brindley, Bessie Nagy and Russell Deal.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the funeral home with visitation on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
