James U. Gilleland

James U. Gilleland, 78, of Port Clinton, died Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was born February 5, 1939 in Fremont, OH the son of Robert M. and Eleanor J. (Allison) Gilleland. He was a graduate of Port Clinton High School and a United States Air Force Veteran. He married Rita Casperson on April 4, 1964 and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2007. Jim retired from U. S. Gypsum where he worked in ceiling tiles. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Surviving are his children: Harold "Mac" Gilleland, James A. (Connie) Gilleland, Steven A. (Lisa) Gilleland, Cynthia (Scott) Emch all of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Josh, Cyril, Joseph, Tabitha, Brittnay, Ryan, Cody, Allison, Leslee, Benjiman and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Rita, brother: Robert A. Gilleland and grandson David. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams St. Port Clinton, OH where the body will lie in state from 10:00am until the time of the service. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Rd.
