James R. Palmer, Sr.

James R. Palmer Sr., 78 of Rocky Ridge, OH and formerly of Dillies Bottom, OH died Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH. He was born August 23, 1943 in Dillies Bottom, OH to the late Charles and Anna (Lasko) Palmer. On October 11, 1974 he married Ruth Cole who preceded him in death October 29, 2017. James was a welder for Ohio Ferra Alloys in Clearington, OH. He was a boat pilot for the Moundsville Ferry. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shadyside, OH. He was a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 201 of Powhatan Point, OH and a trustee at Lewis Arboretum Youth Camp. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and spoiling grandchildren. Survivors include his son James R. (Trisha) Palmer, Jr. of Rocky Ridge; daughter Mary (Karl) Sikole of St. Clairsville, OH; step-daughter: Rhea (Jeff) Meckling of Genoa, OH; 4 grandchildren: Shandi, Shane, Cheyenne, and Shelby; siblings: John, Nancy, Mandy and Kathy “Kutch”. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Chuck and Richard Palmer. There will be no services at this time. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Oncology Department at Magruder Hospital.
