James R. Hetrick

James R. Hetrick, 83, of Elmore, Ohio, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 28, 1928, a son of Lester & Dorothy (Boswell) Hetrick. Jim was a sales representative for Nationwide Insurance for over 36 years with offices in Oak Harbor and Elmore. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in Germany in the occupation forces. Jim was an active member of American Legion Post #279 in Elmore, where he served as a past commander. He was given a lifetime membership in the post for serving as adjutant for many years. Jim was also a member of the Elmore Kiwanis and enjoyed gardening and going to auctions. He was well known in his family for his outstanding spaghetti sauce and loved spending time at the family cottage on Lake Erie at Locust Point. On October 11, 1950, he married the former Ruth Schroeder, and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Janet Davis; grandchildren, David Picciuto, Christine Davis, Daniel Davis, and Brittany Hetrick; and great-grandson, Tyler Martikan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Paul J. Hetrick, and brothers, Lawrence and Richard Hetrick. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, with the Rev. John W. Bock officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Legion Post #279, or to a charity of the donors choice.
