James J. Havel, 91 of Danbury Township, and formerly of Willowick, OH, died Tuesday at the Lutheran Memorial Home in Sandusky, OH. He was born August 29, 1914 in Cleveland, the son of John and Frances Havel. Mr. Havel was the owner and operator of the Ace Fire Equipment Company and later worked as a security guard at the Catawba Island Club and a greeter at Walmart where he was known as “Mr. Tricks” for being a trickster for kids. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Marblehead, Moose Lodge 1610 of Port Clinton, former member of the Elk’s Lodge and enjoyed making nautical woodworking and crafts. Surviving are his wife Sandra (Avery) Zoldak Havel, whom he married on December 31, 1980; stepchildren, James Zoldak of Roelland Park, Kansas, John (Lisa) Zoldak of Ravenna, OH, Darlene (Stan) Warner of Port Orchard, WA, and Donna (Kevin) Cook of Berton, OH; son Richard Havel and daughter Linda Kincaid; Step grandfather of six and step great grandfather of one. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Joseph and a sister, Fran Davison. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Monday, June 19 until the time of services at 12 noon Monday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
