James D. Kinn, of Port Clinton, Ohio, 83, died at home on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on March 5, 1926, in Fostoria, Ohio, to the late Lucian and Alma (Huss) Kinn, He is survived by his children, Karen Backus of Bowling Green, Ohio, Deborah (Paul) D'Alesio of Orlando, Florida, and Karolyn (Paul) Sallows of Sylvania, four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Lucianne (William) Thomas of Connersville, Indiana, and Marylin Kinn of Fostoria, and brother Frank (Dolores) Kinn of Fostoria. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward. Jim graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan. He was formerly owner of National Canvas Products Corp. - Toledo, and Operations Manager of Metcaf Airport - Toledo and Fostoria Metro Airport. He was involved in other business activities. Jim was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Port Clinton, and was active with the Port Clinton Rotary Club, Experimental Aircraft Association, Habitat For Humanity, Meals On Wheels and the Knights Of Columbus. Jim wanted to express his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the residents and staff of the Catawba Vineyard conmumity for the thoughtfulness and acts of kindness that brightened up his days, with a special thanks to Shirley Brenner, and staff of Stein Hospice. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m., Friday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9-9:30 AM on Saturday with prayers beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Fr. John Missler, officiating. Burial will be Monday at St. Wendelin Cemetery in Fostoria. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Stein Hospice, or the donor's choice.
