James D. Cassis

James D. Cassis, 78, of Port Clinton, Ohio and formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 4, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Andrew and Marie (Tansay) Cassis. He married Julie Crane on July 14, 1979 and she survives. Jim worked as an accountant in Toledo until his retirement. He also served in the National Guard. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton and was also a member of the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus Lodge #1750 where he was a 4th degree Knight. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife, Julie; daughters, Alexandra Cassis, Port Clinton, Lisa (Steve) Gilleland, Port Clinton, Cynthia Joseph, Port Clinton; sons, Michael Joseph, Maumee, Ohio, Jimal Cassis, Peaks Island, Maine; grandchildren, Ryan Armstrong, Brittany Armstrong, Damon Joseph, Makayla Joseph, Makenzy Joseph, Morgan Joseph, David Joseph, Blaise Hoffman, Christopher "Beanz" Sanford, Daniel Cassis, Ezikel Cassis, Ezra Cassis, Joel Gilleland, Tabitha Gilleland, Cody Gilleland, Cy Heim, Josh Gilleland, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, David Joseph. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton with Father John Missler officiating.
