James A. Mazur, Sr.

James A. Mazur, Sr., 80, of Danbury Township, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born at home April 24, 1941 in Lakeside, OH; the son of Andrew and Anna (Pich) Mazur. Jim graduated from Danbury High School with the “Class of 1959.” He graduated from the University of Toledo and received his Law Degree from the Cleveland Marshall School of Law (Cleveland State University) in 1968. He practiced law in the State of Ohio for the next fifty-three years. He was a devoted member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Marblehead. Jim served as an Ottawa County Commissioner from Jan. 1977 to Dec. 1984. He was a member of the Ottawa County Board of Elections from March 1986 to Feb. 1989 and he was the Director of the Ottawa County Board of Elections from March 1989 to Feb. 1998. Jim is survived by his wife: Rita; sons: James A. Mazur, Jr. of Rocky Hill, CT, Richard J. Mazur of Fremont, Kenneth R. (Theresa) Mazur of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Brittany Ann Mazur, Lauren Mazur, Keilynn Mazur; brother: Craig Mazur of Marblehead and sister Susan Wiseman of Perrysburg. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Patricia A. (Ohm) Mazur; parents; brother: Robert Mazur; sister: Barbara Parker; and brother-in-laws; Tom Wiseman and Eugene Ohm; and sister-in-law Pat Ohm. Social distancing and masks will be required at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH where a Panikhida prayer service will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, 114 E. Main St. Marblehead, OH. Interment will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.
