James A. Coyle, 87 of Port Clinton, OH, loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 11, 2022 at his home. He was born November 11, 1934 at home in Port Clinton to the late John Lorenzia and Cora Lee (Tasch) Coyle. He was a 1952 graduate of Port Clinton High School. On June 19, 1965 he married the former Renee A. Martin and she survives. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Japan for two years at the 12th USASA Field Station on Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan following code school at Fort Devens, Mass. He retired in 1996 from US Gypsum and Uniroyal as a mechanic. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor where he served as a past member of the Church Council and taught Sunday School for the mentally handicapped. His hobbies included restoring old engines and cars, fishing, gardening, traveling with their motor home and doing genealogy. Jim was always willing to lend a hand fixing and fabricating items for friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Renee; sons William J. and Michael J. Coyle all of Port Clinton and sister Mildred I. Yeomans of Banning, CA. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Eleanor M. Honsperger, Naomi J. Meachen, and Jack E. Coyle. Services will begin at 1pm on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel where the family will receive friends beginning at 11am until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contribution may be made to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Cleveland Clinic Cancer Clinic.
