James A. Betcher, 75, of Oak Harbor, OH, passed away Friday, January 6, 2022. He was born on February 25, 1947 in Toledo, OH, a son of the late Richard & Kathleen (Knecht) Betcher. A graduate of Lake High School, Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Jim was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and American Legion Freedom Post #183, Pemberville, OH, where he served on the Color Guard. He was a machine operator at the former General Motors Powertrain Plant in Toledo, retiring in 2006. An excellent woodworker, Jim crafted many projects in his workshop.
On March 29, 1969, he married the former Suzanne M. Schultz, and she survives. Also surviving are their sons, Gabriel Betcher, Oak Harbor, Troy A. Betcher, Toledo; daughter, Tiffany Sue Betcher, Gulfport, MS; sister, Susan Shook, Texas; and grandchildren, Xavier Betcher, Lexus Betcher, Skyla Lessard, Wyatt Lessard, Ember Lessard, Memphis Lessard, Wade Lessard, Elijah Dombrowski, and Alyssa Dombrowski. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard Betcher, Jr.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor. Pastor Becky Bolander will officiate, and interment will follow at Rusha Cemetery, Carroll Township, where military graveside rites will take place.
