J Earl Bloomfield

J. Earl Bloomfield, age 87, of Danbury Township, Ohio, died peacefully at home on September 24, 2010. Charlotte, his beloved wife, to whom he was married for over 66 years and who tenderly and patiently cared for him during his challenges with Alzheimer's disease, survives. He was a loving father to four sons, and is survived by Roger (Susan) of White River Junction, Vermont, Don (Jan) of St. Louis, Missouri, Doug (Joanne) of North Olmsted, Ohio, and by Cheryl Bloomfield, the wife of his son, Randy, who preceded him in death in 1996. He also was a devoted grandfather to Christine Feller of St. Louis, Amy Bloomfield of Los Angeles, Nancy Bloomfield of Sharon, VT, Tom (Jenneke) Bloomfield of St. Louis, Michael Bloomfield, M.D. (Marin Mannix, M.D.) of Cleveland, Jeffrey Bloomfield of Seattle, and Ryan and Abby Bloomfield of Cleveland, and great-grandfather to Emily Feller, and Tommy and Charlotte Ellen Bloomfield of St. Louis, and a devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Earl was born in Lakewood, Ohio, to Joseph E. Bloomfield and Eliza Marsh Houghton. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a successful sales representative for several leading commercial printing companies in Cleveland. Through his industry and diligence, he provided for his family. By example, he taught his sons the satisfactions that come with working with the hands as well as the mind. He enjoyed boating, camping and traveling with his family, and after his sons were raised, he and Charlotte traveled to the British Isles, to Europe and Central America, and enjoyed yearly trips to North Carolina and Florida. Private interment services will be held at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River, Ohio. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Lakeside United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Earl's memory be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, to Lakeside United Methodist Church, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
