Iva E. Weidner, 90, of Elmwood Assisted Living of Fremont, and formerly of Elmore, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011. She was born on March 18, 1921 in Woodville, Ohio, the daughter of John & Bertha (Myers) Gregg. On February 6, 1943, Iva married Arthur Weidner in Woodville. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2003. Arthur preceded her in death on July 15, 2003. Before her marriage, Iva was employed as a telephone operator for the Northern Ohio Telephone Company in Genoa. A longtime member of St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore, Iva was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Guidepost Class, was a Sunday School teacher, and was recognized for her many years of dedication to the church cradle roll of new births. In later years, she also attended Zion United Methodist Church in Elliston with friends and family. Iva was a member of the Riverview Auxiliary, Oak Harbor, the Elmore Historical Society, the Sugar Creek Protection Society, was an American Red Cross volunteer, and enjoyed bowling on an afternoon league in Elmore for many years. Surviving Iva are her children, John (Diane) Weidner, Elmore, Lois Kay (Carl) Rice, Leipsic, Ohio, Linda (Richard) Potts, Gibsonburg, Ohio, and Terry (Brenda) Weidner, Graytown, Ohio; sister, Ruby Campbell, Norwalk, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Art; daughter, Nancy (Alan) Anthony; granddaughter, Renae (Weidner) Okonski; sister, Golda Hiser; brothers, Amos, Gilbert, William, and Clarence Gregg. Friends are invited to call from 4-8 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Melissa Steinecker officiating. Interment will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Harris-Elmore E.M.S., St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church or Zion United Methodist Church.
