Irvin James Davis

Irvin James Davis, 85, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on January 13, 1934 in Webster, Ohio, a son of the late Curtis and Florence (Weaver) Davis. On August 23, 1959 he married Darlene Bateson and she survives. Irvin was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served our country during the Korean War. After he was discharged from the military, he began working in construction while he was going to college at Bowling Green State University where he received his degree in education. He then taught at Bataan Elementary in Port Clinton from 1963 - 1967. He then worked various jobs in the automotive industry but was in his glory when he opened his store Martha & Mollys in downtown Marblehead. He was a member of the American Legion in Portage, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing and coon and deer hunting. Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene; daughters, Jennifer (Jack Reis) Graffin, Edgerton, Wisconsin and Nancy (Richard) Hemchak, Huron, Ohio; grandchildren, Molly Mitchell, Jay Scott Graffin, Keith Dickens, Eric Dickens; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Blake, Brielle; sister, Tilly Kimmel and brother, Curtis Davis, Jr., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Alice Rompanian and infant sister, Bertha; and brothers, William Davis and Sidney Davis. Per Irvins wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be interred at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio sometime this summer.
