Irene M. Szilagyi

Irene M. Szilagyi, age 83, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center in Lakeside, Ohio. She was born on July 31, 1934, in Gypsum, Ohio, a daughter of the late Andrew and Virginia (Deluca) Bertuccioli. On February 14, 1954, Irene married Robert M. Szilagyi, also of Gypsum, Ohio, and he preceded her in death in 2005. Irene was a 1952 graduate of Port Clinton High School. Irene enjoyed cooking and reading on a variety of subjects, including angels, history, and fiction mysteries. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her four grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Carol) Szilagyi, of Centerburg, Ohio; and Bruce (Becky) Szilagyi, of Port Clinton, Ohio; grandchildren, Andrew Szilagyi, Olivia (James) Vasko, Carly (Clint) Cochran, and Adam (Emily) Szilagyi; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Vasko, Carson Cochran, and Cash Cochran; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Szilagyi. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by her son, Bradley (Sandy) Szilagyi, and, her sister, Irma Whiting. Private services will be held.
