Ila Jean Kendall, 87, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born on July 14, 1926 in Oak Harbor, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clifford and Leona (Scott) Franck. She married George V. Kendall on July 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1984. During World War II Ila Jean worked at Standard Products in Port Clinton to help aid the war effort. Later she worked at the Catawba Island Club on Catawba Island and then at Phil's Inn in Port Clinton. She was of the Lutheran Faith having attended St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton; a member of the Port Clinton Moose Club Ladies Auxiliary; Past member of the Port Clinton American Legion Auxiliary; and member of the Port Clinton VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bunko, and dominos as well as going on trips with the Moose Club to the casinos. Most importantly, she was a proud housewife and mother raising her four children. She loved sharing her time with family and friends and she treasured the memories of her travels with her family and friends. Survivors include her sons: Bernard "Ben" (Sharon) Kendall, Huron, Ohio; Timothy Kendall, Coshocton, Ohio; and Terrence Kendall, Pass Christian, Mississippi; daughter: Tana Hogan, Port Clinton; grandchildren: Matthew Kendall, Scott Kendall, Jeffrey Kendall, Allison Mates, Kimberly Melton, Kellie Jenkins, Lisa Moon, Heather Shiets, Kristin Grove; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Scott and Paul Franck; and sisters: Elizabeth "Betty" Franck and Evelyn "Mickey" Marquez. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister: Phyllis King. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 9:30am until a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 10:30am with Bishop Robert Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Manor Nursing Center Activity Fund or to Stein Hospice.
