Howard Cook, 77, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on June 10, 1937 in Wilder, Virginia, the son of the late Jasper and Nannie Belle (Osborne) Cook. He married Phyllis A. Bolyard on March 23, 1956 and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2010. Howard worked as a machine operator at the US Gypsum Company, Gypsum, Ohio, then at the former Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio; and then retired in 1998 from the former Uniroyal Plant in Port Clinton. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1610, Port Clinton, as well as a former member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #2295 in Port Clinton. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, boating, attending car shows, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his sons: Ronald L. (Cindy) Cook, Oak Harbor, OH; Terry L. (Marie) Cook, Port Clinton; Brian H. (Sonya) Cook, Huron, OH; grandchildren: Jimmy (Melissa) Cook, Tami (Lee) Dewey, Graham (Tracy) Deak, Betsy (Aaron Conners) Cook, Benjamin (Melissa) Cook, Brice Cook, Ashley Cook, great-grandchildren: Skyler Cook, Nick Dewey, Madison Dewey, Kennedy Deak, London Deak, Rowan Deak, Conner Ambrozy, Logan Biehler, Korbin Conners; twin brother: Herman (Betty) Cook, Port Clinton; brother: Walter (Wilma) Cook, Lacarne, Ohio; and his beloved faithful canine companion: Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, grandson: Kylee Jacob Cook, sister: Antha Taylor, brothers: John, Ed, Frank, James, Curtis, Oscar, Richard; and his best friend canine companions: Jake and Shep. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from Noon until Funeral Services at 1pm with Reverend Earl Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Christy Chapel Cemetery, Portage Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County; to the Shriners of Toledo, or to the Neuro Fibramatosis Society.
