Howard Apling

Howard Apling, 92, of Lakeside and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Otterbein Northshore Retirement Village where he had lived since 1998. He was born March 22, 1913 in Oak Harbor, OH the son of the late Henry and Emma (Meinke) Apling. He married Ruth Robinson in 1933 and she preceded him in death in 1946. He then married Gertrude Madison in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Apling owned and operated his own trucking company and he also was a car salesman. Surviving are his sons: Kenneth (Marge) Apling of Oak Harbor, Jerry (Diane) Apling of Sandusky, Lynn (Linda) Apling of Oregon; daughter Arlene Ravas of Catawba Island; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, daughter: Marilyn Bickley, brother: Lloyd Apling, sister: Verna Domrose and grandson Tom Apling. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, OH where visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Rev. Kurt Borows will officiate, and interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeside Vol Fire & EMS or Marblehead Vol Fire and EMS.
