Herbert R. Buhrow

Herbert R. Buhrow, 81 of Oak Harbor, Ohio died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born in Elmore, Ohio on February 7, 1927, a son of Theodore & Clara (Roepke) Buhrow. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Herb served in the South Pacific. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #8732 and was a member of John A. Fader American Legion Post #114, both of Oak Harbor. Herb was also a member of Moose Lodge #1286, Fremont, Ohio and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. He was a long time employee of Ford Motor Company, Sandusky, Ohio, retiring in 1986. On May 20, 1949, Herb married the former Carolyn M. Schiller, and she preceded him in death on December 21, 1996. Surviving are his sons, David (Denise) Buhrow, Fremont, Ohio, Roger (Beth) Buhrow, Fostoria, Ohio; daughters, Wendy (Art) West, and Brenda (Ron) Dunn, both of Oak Harbor; brother, Willard (Shirley) Buhrow, Elmore, Ohio; sister, Barbara Blausey, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant son, Douglas Buhrow; sister, Thelma Brown, and brothers, Donald, Norman, and Wilbur Buhrow. Friends are invited to call from 4-9 P.M. Thursday and 2-9 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, where military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #8732 and American Legion Post #114.
