Helen Meterko, 91, lifelong resident of Marblehead, Ohio, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. She was a daughter of the late Michael & Anna (Hanik) Twarek. Mrs. Meterko was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crocheting. On June 26, 1943, she married Alex Meterko, and he survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Helen Anne (Bill) Byrnes of Woodbridge, CT, Marilyn (Rick) Orcutt of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sons, Robert (Sue) Meterko of Port Clinton, Ray (Pat) Meterko of North Ridgeville, OH; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Cal, George and Larry Twarek, all of Marblehead. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Kokinda, Anne Babcock, Sophia Hallier; and brothers, Fran, Michael and John Twarek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Ring at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH. The family will receive friends from 4–8 P.M. Wednesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Additional visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
