Helen M. Whipple

Helen M. Whipple, 91, of Graytown, Ohio, died Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was born in Oak Harbor on March 14, 1917, a daughter of Richard & Elizabeth (Yauch) Zibbel. Helen was a long time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, where she served on the visitation team. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and doing embroidery work. Helen also spent time fishing and going to auctions. Her favorite times however, were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On July 4, 1940, she married Howard F. Whipple, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Helen is survived by her children, Franklin R. (Nancy) Whipple, South Carolina, Gerald L. (Cheryl) Whipple, Oak Harbor, Jeanne A. Young, Toledo, Ohio, Mary Lou (Gary) Cooper, Fremont, Ohio, and Carole Whipple, Graytown, Ohio; sister, Eileen Gelacek, Toledo, Ohio, and brother, Willis H. Zibbel, of Florida. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Kathryn Laubacher, a brother, Howard Zibbel, and her grandson, Christopher Whipple. Friends are invited to call from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, Ohio.
